Testing DCs through Technology
Among the challenges mentioned by the NBCE board and committee are the increased costs to develop and administer computer-based testing. Other concerns are ensuring security and guaranteeing that a computerized test format will meet all states' board requirements. NBCE hopes to unveil the SPEC exam as a pilot computerized program in the near future. Dr. Vernon Temple, Co-Chair of the Computerized Testing Committee, commented, "We will continue to focus on excellence in testing for the chiropractic licensing boards utilizing the technology and existing framework that is available. The organization remains diligent and responsible in fulfilling its role to provide superior service to the chiropractic licensing boards." The committee includes NBCE Board Members: Co- chairs - Drs. Vernon Temple (VT) and Jerry Blanchard (ND); committee members - Drs. Frank Hideg (KY), Kenneth Padgett (NY), and advisory members - Drs. Gerald Clum (Life-West), Cynthia Vaughn (TX). Don Petersen, Editor/Publisher of Dynamic Chiropractic has also acted as committee observer. Dr. Peter Ferguson, NBCE President and ex-officio committee member, appointed the CBT task force in 2000. |
