FCLB ETHICS CODE PUTS FCLB IN DEMAND AS SPEAKER RESOURCE

FCLB Executive Director, Donna Liewer continues to be asked to present to other organizations about the FCLB's Model Code of Ethics for Regulatory Boards. Most recently, she offered the keynote address to the October annual meeting of the National Council of Speech, Language and Hearing Pathology in Pittsburgh.

The Federation of Associations of Regulatory Boards (FARB) has taken on the responsibility for publishing and distributing the final ethics code document, with full credit to FCLB for its work in developing it. Credit for the content goes to FCLB task force members Dr. Hal Bowen (DE)- chair, Dr. Vernon Temple (VT), and Norman Cohen (NY).

The text of the Model Ethics Code (and other FCLB publications) is posted here.

Our Federation is actively involved with the Interprofessional Workgroup on Health Professions Regulation, Federation of Associations of Regulatory Boards (FARB), and Clearinghouse on Licensure, Enforcement and Regulation (CLEAR).

Interaction with other professions has been an excellent source of energy and creativity as we continually refine and upgrade our services to our member boards.

FARB's Colorado Springs Leadership Summit in July featured the Ethics Code as well as two other model references:

  • Model Application for Licensure

  • Model Practice Act for regulated professions

FCLB regional district meeting attendees received these two FARB documents. The Federation has been requested by FARB to ask our members how these documents might be useful at the jurisdictional level.

Important legal items missing in regulatory documents could cost your board-be sure to compare your current code and application processes with the FARB models.
