District voting delagates elect leadership

Steve Willen, D.C. was elected as District V Director of Federation of Chiropractic Licensing Boards at the October Districts III & V meeting held in Portland, Maine. He will take office in May, 2002, at the FCLB's annual meeting in Chicago following the retirement of current District V Director Dr. Linda Steele Denham (GA).

Dr. Willen has practiced in Greensboro, North Carolina since 1984 and is a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician. Prior to receiving his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from National College of Chiropractic, he studied at East Carolina University. Dr. Willen stated, "I became a doctor to help people-as a pre-med student Dr. Earl Barbour gave me the gift of a chiropractic adjustment and I changed my profession from that point on...by my serving on the FCLB Board, I will continue to help our leaders preserve the integrity of the licensing boards in chiropractic regulation."

Dr. Willen has been the President of the North Carolina Board of Chiropractic Examiners since 1999 having been appointed by the Governor of North Carolina as a board member in 1998.

Dr. Denham has served as FCLB director since 1999 and has also been active in various leadership roles on the Georgia board.

Dr. Wayne Wolfson, FCLB President, stated, "Our board and organization has benefitted from the knowledge and commitment of Dr. Denham-she has made a significant contribution to chiropractic regulation and our profession."

In addition, Dennis L. Hall, Sr., D.C. (NC) was elected as FCLB District V Alternate Director a term concurrent with Dr. Willen. He has been involved in chiropractic regulation for the past 22 years.

Other elections held at District regional meetings included the Montana meeting where Dr. Patricia G. Conners-Allen (AK) was re-elected to a second three-year term as FCLB District I Director. She also chairs the FCLB executive board.

Dr. Kathleen Galligan (OR) was also reaffirmed in her seat as District I Alternate Director.

In addition, Dr. LeRoy Otto (MN) was elected to his first three-year term as District II director, a seat he has held by board appointment since the spring filling a vacancy. Dr. Otto practices in Lake City, and serves on the Minnesota Board of Chiropractic Examiners.

Dr. Valorie J. Prahl (IA) was elected District II alternate director.

All district and alternate director terms expire in 2005.
