The Council on Chiropractic Education of Canada
39 River Street Notice Regarding the Doctor of Chiropractic Programme at the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières(November 20, 2002) On November 15, 2002, the Commission on Accreditation (COA) of the Council on Chiropractic Education of Canada (CCEC) reviewed the application for reaffirmation of accreditation of the Doctor of Chiropractic programme at the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières (UQTR). The COA reviewed the report of a site visit team and programme response to the site team report, examined other pertinent information received from the programme, and met with programme representatives who answered questions and provided additional clarifying and substantive information. Subsequently, the COA met in private session and arrived at a consensus decision. The COA decision is to reaffirm accreditation of the Doctor of Chiropractic programme at UQTR and to establish the tentative date for the next comprehensive review, including a Site Visit and COA Review Meeting, for Fall of 2005. The COA notes substantial progress by UQTR in addressing specific concerns formerly identified to the programme. The Sanction of Probation previously imposed will be continued pending further information to be obtained from the programme in specified reports, and from a Special Site Visit scheduled for Fall of 2003. A Sanction of Probation is imposed when there are indications of noncompliance with some of the requirements for accreditation. The COA will review the status of this sanction at the annual COA meeting scheduled for December 2003. In reaching its decision, the COA followed the procedures outlined in the CCEC Standards for Doctor of Chiropractic Programmes (Standards). Given the confidential nature of the accreditation relationship and the COA commitment to work positively in being of assistance to programmes going through the accreditation process, no further or more specific information about this matter will be provided. |
