NEWS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE ELECTIONS MARK CHANGES ON THE FCLB BOARD OF DIRECTORS Two directors re-elected, new member to join board in May Regional district meetings held around the country in October resulted in the re-election of several directors and the selection of a new director from the southeast region. All three district directors will be seated at the Federation of Chiropractic Licensing Boards’ annual meeting next spring in Chicago. Dr. Patricia Conners-Allen (Alaska), District I Director and executive board chair was re-elected to a second three-year term, along with her alternate director Dr. Kathleen Galligan (Oregon). Elected to his first three-year term as District II Director was Dr. LeRoy Otto (Minnesota), who was appointed previously by the FCLB board of directors to fill the vacancy in this seat due to a resignation. Prior to his service on the FCLB board, Dr. Otto had served as alternate director for District II. The new District II alternate director is Dr. Valorie Prahl (Iowa). The major change on the board of directors comes in District V, the Federation’s southeast region. Current District V Director, Dr. Linda Steele Denham (Georgia) chose to retire from the seat, opening the door for election to Dr. Steve Willen (North Carolina). Commenting on Dr. Denham’s service to the organization, FCLB president Dr. Wayne C. Wolfson (Florida) noted, "Dr. Denham has made a significant contribution to public protection through her many years in leadership on the Georgia board and the Federation. She will be missed when she retires in May." Dr. Willen is no stranger to the Federation, having served as alternate director for three years under Dr. Denham. He has practiced in Greensboro, North Carolina since 1984. Prior to receiving his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from National College of Chiropractic, he studied at East Carolina University. Dr. Willen explained, "I became a doctor to help people—as a pre-med student Dr. Earl Barbour gave me the gift of a chiropractic adjustment and I changed my profession from that point on. By my serving on the FCLB Board, I will continue to help our regulatory leaders preserve the integrity of the licensing boards in chiropractic regulation." Dr. Willen has been the president of the North Carolina Board of Chiropractic Examiners since 1999, having been appointed by the Governor of North Carolina in 1998. He has held the offices of president, vice president, and secretary of the North Carolina Chiropractic Association, and is a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician. In addition, Dr. Dennis Hall (North Carolina) was elected as alternate director, with his term to run concurrently with Dr. Willen’s.
