Dr. Sportelli is the acting president of both the National Chiropractic Mutual Insurance Company (NCMIC) and the World Federation of Chiropractic (WFC). He has served as President of NCMIC Group, Inc. since 1995, as well as President of TRIAD Healthcare, Inc., a chiropractic specialty managed care network, and a wholly owned subsidiary of the NCMIC Group. Another NCMIC Group subsidiary, NCMIC Insurance Company, provides malpractice insurance to more than 52% of the practicing doctors of chiropractic in the USA.

His involvement in chiropractic nationally and internationally has resulted in his being elected to the presidency of the World Federation of Chiropractic in 1998, an organization having NGO status with the World Health Organization.

Dr. Sportelli is a distinguished public speaker for chiropractic, having participated in more than 1,000 radio, television, newspaper and magazine interviews as a chiropractic spokesperson.

He has written an educational booklet, Introduction to Chiropractic, (now in its ninth printing) which is the most widely used patient education publication in the world. He has authored numerous articles for respected publications and writes a regular column for Dynamic Chiropractic entitled, "In the Court of Public Opinion." He has co-authored several books, including Opportunities in Chiropractic Health Care Careers; Medical-Legal Issues in Chiropractic; and The Chiropractic Form & Sample Letter Book.

Throughout his 37-year career in chiropractic, he served as chairman of the board of the American Chiropractic Association in 1989, Trustee to the Foundation for Chiropractic Education and Research and currently serves on the Advisory Board of The Chiropractic Report. He also currently serves on the Board of Trustees of the Palmerton Hospital.

A 1962 graduate of Palmer College of Chiropractic, Dr. Sportelli maintains a private practice in Palmerton, Pennsylvania. He co-designed and marketed the "Wedge Filtration System," a filtration device for radiographic protection currently used in every chiropractic college in the country and in numerous private chiropractic and health clinics.

Dr. Sportelli continues to be a visionary and leader in the profession of chiropractic.
